The Chiefs aren’t going anywhere. Patrick Mahomes definitely hasn’t slipped.
The Chiefs being 3-3 in the first week of the season may not be ideal, but it certainly is not ending a long-running dynasty. Kansas City cooled off the most popular team in the NFL that the Detroit Lions, with a 30-17 victory on Sunday. The difference was Mahomes, who is playing the most impressive football of his career.
Mahomes was able to throw three touchdown passes and one rushing and was the dominant player the entire game.

The Chiefs knew that the initial Six games were going to be difficult. The schedule was tough. It was a loss for Rashee Rice the Chiefs most effective receiver. Rice will return next week following an unofficial suspension of six games.
The Chiefs haven’t been used to playing just .500 as they are deep into their season. But their victory against the Lions demonstrated that they’re capable of beating anybody and especially when Mahomes is playing like he’s playing. Kansas City will likely end the season as a Super Bowl contender, as normal.

Chiefs hold halftime lead
Following a weekend that featured some unsettling performances throughout the NFL The night of Sunday featured two exciting teams.
The Lions appeared to have got the game started with the trick play of an unintentional touchdown, based on the touchdown pass of the running back David Montgomery to quarterback Jared Goff. However, officials decided that Goff did not move in a legal manner so the goal was removed from the scoreboard. The Lions chose to attempt at a field goal.
Mahomes scored two touchdowns during the first quarter, the first one was an interception at Xavier Worthy and another rushing. The Lions scored a nice touchdown with a TD pass of 22 yards by Goff to Jameson Williams. Both offenses played at a high level. The defenses each made a huge block on fourth down just before halftime. One of the naughty mistakes was when Harrison Butker missed an extra point for the Chiefs and his continuing problems could have played a role in Andy Reid going for it on fourth down on Detroit’s 19-yard mark later on in the second half. This fourth down was ended by an uncompleted pass.
The Chiefs had a 13-10 lead at halftime and might have led to a much bigger lead. However, the Chiefs increased their lead right off in the third quarter.
Chiefs have a solid second quarter
The Chiefs scored a quick touchdown drive to begin the second quarter, with Mahomes sending a shovel pass for Hollywood Brown, who ran into the end zone to score a touchdown of 9 yards. This gave 20-10 Chiefs lead. The score remained the same until midway through the fourth quarter after which Lions tight ends Sam LaPorta made an excellent single-handed catch in the middle into the goal line to reduce the gap to just three points.
This is when Mahomes restored the momentum. Mahomes led a nine-play 54-yard drive, before hitting Brown for a second touchdown. After the Chiefs forced an out on the Lions next play victory was virtually secured.
The defense of Kansas City performed well against the Lions their explosive offense, especially in the second period. The Chiefs offense has been a bit shaky however, it was able to run the ball very well. Mahomes played well in his performance, and Kansas City piled up 26 first downs, and greater than 350 yards.
A couple of defeats in games that were close led to the impression that the Chiefs could be in decline. Losing to the Lions could place them in a difficult position. However, on Sunday night, how the Chiefs beat one of the league’s top teams was reminiscent of the way they played
